Introduction
Old Blairdaff Kirk and Kirkyard (also known as Sclattie's Kirk) dates from 1839 and became a parish kirk in 1895. The newer Blairdaff Kirk was built in 1850, and was formerly known as a free kirk, the congregation started to use it after there was a fire at the old kirk. It is now the parish kirk and still in use today. It has no kirkyard so interments are still taking place at the kirkyard of the old kirk. Old Blairdaff Kirkyard had its first interment in 1875. The interior seating and fittings were removed and the roof was taken off about 1970. The kirk lies on the road between Monymusk and the Chapel of Garioch and is surrounded by woods which help to protect the stones.

The society is run by volunteers only, so we would like to thank all volunteers past and present for giving of their own time walking round kirkyards recording the inscriptions for the Monumental Inscription books that we sell in the shop in King Street, Aberdeen. We could not have written this MI without the help and patience of Gaving Bell who taught us the right and wrong way of doing things. He also taught us how to use the gizmo, which is needed to make plans of the kirkyards. Heather is now very proficient with it but when it comes to taking the information from the gizmo and putting that on paper we have to thank John Florence for his help and patience!
