My thanks firstly to Margaret Brown for most of the first reading of this one. Also the rest of the ‘Gang’ Jean Cowper and Jim Shirer for their help when we got to the checking stage. Again to Margaret in the final check and indexing. We would like to have done more of this one, but it is a very large one and I don’t think we would have managed it all in one book. What we have done are the oldest section and the first extension which brings us into the mid 1960s anyway. A very pleasant churchyard, not quite at the top of a hill but it can be very breezy up there. An unusual feature for a churchyard is the Chilean Pine Tree, otherwise known as the Monkey-puzzle tree, instead of the more familiar Yews and Copper Beeches. It is the only tree in the churchyard and stands out well against the skyline. Whenever we have been there someone is always there, either visiting or working. The workmen do an excellent job too as it is always in immaculate condition. We hope you enjoy your visit as such as we have enjoyed working there. Sheila M. Spiers. Since this was first published in 1990 there have been many additions to the first extension as well as additions to the original section. It was decided that this booklet should be a 2nd edition to incorporate all this new material. My thanks go to Jean Shirer, Edna Cromarty and particularly Margaret Brown for all the hours spent re-reading the initial inscriptions and recording the new material. It was useful to pick up on earlier mistakes – we are always grateful to members who point these out to us. Edna has again updated the index .
