Welcome to our second booklet in the series, we hope it will prove as useful and popular as the first one. During the preparation of this we have been able to help at least one member to find the elusive members of the family. Again I must thank the regular members of the “Graveyard Gang” comprising Dr. P.Margaret Brown, Miss Monica Anton and Miss Jean Cowper for their cheerful and uncomplaining assistance. Particularly their cheerfulness as Forglen hasn’t always been kind to us with its weather. Sunshine, rain, gales and mist, even snow on one occasion have been our lot at times. We had a pleasant encounter with a Mr & Mrs Simpson one Sunday afternoon, they were visiting a family grave, and like most people we meet in these circumstances, they were interested in what we were doing. We demonstrated the cleaning of the stones, and the one that we did revealed the name of ALEXANDER SIMPSON (No.39) but as far as we, or they, know they are not related. On one occasion we were joined by Mrs Margaret Mackenzie, from Conon Bridge who was looking around the area for “family names”, unfortunately I don’t think she found any. This was the first graveyard we ever visited, we being Dr. Brown and myself, looking for Wilsons and Andersons. In the process we found an Anton, which led us to Miss Anton – so who knows where and who the search for family connections may lead you to. We all hope you enjoy the results of our labours, as much as we enjoyed the labouring.
