Thanks as usual to Margaret Brown and Jim and Jean Shirer (The Graveyard Gang). And to Connie Stuart, who arrived to lend a hand on a hot and sunny afternoon bearing very welcome refreshment in the shape of an ice-cream each. We all worked very much better after that. Culsalmond churchyard is, like the majority of the churchyard in this area, in a superb location. About a mile off the main Aberdeen-Huntly road, it sits at the top of a rise and gives an excellent view of the surrounding countryside. The stones are, in the main, in good condition. Being on a hillside means the land drains well so the stones are seldom waterlogged and there are no overhanging branches of trees to deposit their leaves on the flat stones. Sheila M.Spiers
