My thanks as ever to those “Gallant Graveyarders” Margaret Brown, Jean Cowper and Jim Shirer for some very hard work and keen eyesight. Some of the stones gave us more than a few headaches and some of the very small stones alongside the church may well be the ‘ends’ of what were once tablestones. Apologies are due for being very overdue with publication. Two thing caused delays – first the weather when we were ready to check the inscriptions in the old section. Then we discovered there was room to put the newer one in as well and that added somewhat to the time however I hope you will find the wait worth it. This Churchyard is a bit off the beaten track and it took us three attempts to find it. Perseverance paid off and it was certainly worth the effort. Now administered by the National Trust for Scotland the ruined church in an excellent state of repair and if you’re lucky enougn to co-incide with some sunshine then it is a superb place.
