Description: IÔÇÖm sure that everyone is aware that the headstone to John Brown (140) was erected by Queen Victoria but very few are aware that there are another 10 also erected by her. These all commemorate service to her from a stable-hand, kitchen staff and under butler up to the personal maids and servants. They are:- No. 62, 63, 100, 101, 102, 103, 153, 296, 300 & 322. Another 15 indicate long service to Queen Victoria though these are not directly erected by her ÔÇô they are:- 40, 41, 45, 47, 48, 49, 81, 99, 177, 185, 205, 211, 231, 250 & 299. The present church sits on the hillside and the churchyard is set on the opposite side of the road, down a short lane beside the tourist information kiosk and close to the river Dee. The remains of the old church are still there and the Farquharson Aisle which unfortunately is kept locked. This made transcription a little difficult.
